Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 majestic 2001: A Space Odyssey has not only solidified its position as one of the best two or three science-fiction films of all time, but, in addition, it is one of the greatest examples of world cinema. 2001 is a superb visual articulation of profound human thought and exalted emotions. This film captures the sublime in ways that few cinematic works ever have. 2001 was directed by the same director as A Clockwork Orange: Stanley Kubrick.
2001: A Space Odyssey will be shown in its original format at the Castro Theater on 8/18/13 at 2:00 and 8:15pm. If you go to see the movie, please pay attention to the cool furniture and interior design. Stanley Kubrick is a master of set design. In this film the set is space age inspired and the furniture is amazing.

The Castro Theater is one of the best theaters in the Bay Area. Great film festivals have place in this theater and several movies from the 20th century are shown here in their original format. Beside 2001, the Castro Theater will be showing other great films from the mid century era such as:
